Description
Guide Review - Mrs. Ks Restaurant ReviewMrs. Ks offers a cozy and unique setting, especially for the location - along the busy Colesville Road in Silver Spring, MD. The restaurant is set back off of the road and has an expansive butterfly and herb garden for diners to enjoy during the summer season. There are a variety of dining spaces with different atmospheres - sun-filled dining rooms, a newly renovated wine cellar, and patio dining.
The menu features a variety of starters and main courses including mostly seafood and beef dishes. As a starter, the Tuna Au Poivre, served over seaweed salad tossed with Japanese vinaigrette, pickled ginger and wasabi is tasty and there is plenty to share. We particularly enjoyed the Crab Cakes with Chipotle-remoulade sauce, mashed potatoes and asparagus. The rib-eye steak with blue cheese cream sauce was cooked just right. Although the restaurant is pricey for this area, the portions are very large and small plates are enough for a normal appetite and are reasonably priced. Mrs. Ks recently renovated its basement, creating a 3,600-square-foot wine cellar that is reminiscent of a European castle with vintage brick floors and walls, wooden beams and paneling, custom ironwork, and exposed stone. The new cellar creates a tavern-like atmosphere with visible wine storage and an additional 94 seats of dining space and an expansive 12-seat bar. The wine cellar offers some private dining and is highly recommended. Ask to be seated in the corner near the stone fountain.
