Each July, the City of Alexandria celebrates its own birthday on the Saturday following Independence Day with a concert and fireworks. The event includes children's activities, a performance by the Alexandria Singers, civic awards by the Mayor, a concert by the Alexandria Symphony Orchestra and fireworks to Tchaikovsky's "1812 Overture."
