The Alexandria Guitar Festival features guitar concerts, seminars, adult classes, children’s classes, and a vendor’s fair for people of all ages and levels of interest. During this weeklong festival, the Alexandria Suzuki Guitar Institute will offer beginner lessons. This is a great opportunity to try out guitar playing with a minimal investment of time and money. The festival is sponsored by the Northern Virginia Fine Arts Association.

Guitar Concert Series

July 16 through July 19, 2008. The Alexandria Guitar Festival includes performances by national and international award winning guitarists. You can purchase tickets at Olsson's Books and Records at (703) 684-0077 or online at www.alexandriaguitarfestival.com.

Evening Concerts
Evening concerts begin at 8 p.m. at the George Washington Masonic Memorial, 101 Callahan Drive, Alexandria, Virginia. This year's concert series will feature: Soloduo (Italy's world-renowned guitar duo), Wednesday, July 16; Ana Vidovic, Thursday, July 17; Marcin Dylla, Friday, July 18; and Adam del Monte, Saturday, July 19.

Afternoon Concerts
Afternoon concerts will feature: Bastepe-Gray Duo , Wednesday , July 16; Ricardo Cobo Technique Workshop (not a concert), Thursday July 17; Andrew Zohn, Friday July 19; as well as a AGF participants concert, Saturday, July 21. Afternoon concerts will begin at 4:30 PM at the George Washington Masonic National Memorial.

Evening concert tickets are $25 each and afternoon concert tickets are $12 each. Series tickets for the evening and afternoon concerts are $90 each.

Master Guitar Classes

Master classes with some of classical guitar’s most acclaimed artists will be offered to experienced guitar players.

Guitar Classes

The Alexandria Suzuki Guitar Institute will offer classes for guitar instructors seeking Suzuki Teacher Registration, children studying repertoire based on Suzuki principles, and anyone interested in learning more about the Suzuki Method. The Suzuki Guitar Institute will offer an introduction course for beginners; they will help you find a guitar and help place your child with a quality instructor.

The Suzuki Guitar Institute for children between the ages of 2-12 will be held at the Old Presbyterian Meeting House at 321 South Fairfax Street. Enrollment is filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. Please see the festival website for details about tuition and how to register. The Alexandria Suzuki Guitar Institute will perform at the George Washington Masonic Memorial each afternoon at 1:00 p.m.
