The Germantown Oktoberfest, a nonprofit event organized solely through volunteer efforts and supported by community sponsors, raises funds for local community charities. The festival also provides a welcome venue for local non-profit groups such as the American Legion, Jaycees, Kiwanis, Knights of Columbus, the Cedarette Clowns, high school PTSA and booster clubs, teen groups, and the Germantown Chamber of Commerce to raise awareness of their efforts.
Honoring Local Police
The festival also features a special tribute to local police personnel. Montgomery County Fifth District Police Commander Luther Reynolds will present awards to those officers who have gone above and beyond the call of duty. Award categories include community policing, community services, superior investigation, superior performance, distinguished service, and administrative and volunteer service. Officers, support staff and volunteers will be present to receive their awards as well as the appreciation of their community. The awards ceremony will be held at 4:30 p.m.Website: http://www.germantownoktoberfest.org
