Korean Festival 2012 in Washington DC
A Korean Festival, officially named the KORUS Festival, is held each fall in Northern Virginia, near Washington DC. The Korean American Association of Washington Metropolitan Area hosts the free three day event to share the Korean culture and promote the well-being and prosperity of the Korean-American community. The festival features Asian cuisine, musical performances, a taekwondo demonstration, a talent show, a singing contest, and a K-Pop cover contest. Families and children will be amazed by the Wildlife Exhibit presented by the National Park Service and children can enjoy other fun filled crafts and activities in the kid zone.

The 2012 KORUS festival will also feature a Kimchi festival in partnership with the “Gwangju World Kimchi Culture Festival.” Kimchi is one of the defining icons of Korean culture and a staple with every meal. The event will recognize special guests Marja Vongerichten, the host of the popular TV show “The Kimchi Chronicles” and Phillip Lee, owner of the “Kimchi Taco Food Truck” from New York City as Ambassadors of Kimchi.
