Day of the Dead Festival
2009 Date to be Announced. National Museum of the American Indian. The family-friendly event honors the Mexican custom and includes live entertainment and hands-on craft activities.

Kids Euro Festival
October 15 - November 10, 2009. The event staged through the cooperation of the 27 Washington-based European Union embassies and more than a dozen major local cultural institutions will include more than 150 free performances around the city. Geared to children ages six through twelve.

Distribution of Tickets for the National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony
2009 Date to be Announced, 8 a.m. The National Park Service will distribute 2,800 free tickets on a first-come first-served basis. Don't miss this wonderful holiday tradition in Washington, DC!

Museum Shop Around at Strathmore
2009 Dates to be Announced. Thursday 10 a.m. - 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Sunday 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Shop at 16 museum shops under one roof at the Mansion at Strathmore, 10701 Rockville Pike, North Bethesda, Maryland (301) 581-5100. Admission: $8.

Washington Craft Show
November 6-8, 2009. Washington Convention Center. The annual craft show features contemporary crafts created by more than 180 artists including metal, leather, basketry, jewelry, ceramics, glass and more.

National Ski & Snowboard Expo
2009 Dates to be Announced. Dulles Expo Center. Save money on your ski & snowboard needs. See the latest gear, bring in your old equipment to swap. Free lift tickets will be given to the first 500 patrons each day. Admission: $10, includes a magazine subscription to Ski, Skiing or Snowboarding.

Metropolitan Cooking & Entertaining Show
2009 Dates to be Announced. Washington Convention Center. Attend a consumer event focusing on food and entertaining with more than 150 exhibitors including specialty food companies, caterers, party planners, personal chefs, kitchen planners and appliance manufacturers.

Veterans Day
November 11, 2009. Honor American veterans at a wreath-laying ceremony at one of these monuments in Washington, DC.

2009 Dates to be Announced. The first annual celebration of photography in Washington, DC, will feature programs including a photo contest and juried exhibition, gallery openings, lectures, educational workshops, portfolio reviews, book signings and more.

Governor's Ball at Gadsby's Tavern Museum
2009 Dates to be Announced, 8-11 p.m. Celebrate an evening at Gadsby's Tavern in the year 1779 with Virginia Governor Thomas Jefferson. The night will include a private dinner with the Governor and then a ball, featuring a variety of English Country Dances, live music, dessert collation, and a cash bar. Reservations are required.

Help the Homeless Walk - Washington, DC
