The Washington Auto Show is a huge event displaying more than 700 new makes and models of cars, trucks, mini-vans and sport utility vehicles from over 42 domestic and import automakers. The Washington Area New Automobile Dealers Association (WANADA) sponsors the auto show each year to entice, educate and entertain hundreds of thousands of consumers. The latest innovations in alternative fuels will take center stage at the 2009 Washington Auto Show. This is a great way to learn about more energy-efficient vehicles. Visitors will also find free car giveaways, special guests, promotional contests, childrens activities and live entertainment.

Show Location and Transportation

Washington Convention Center, 801 Mount Vernon Place, NW Washington, DC.
Parking is limited in the area. The best way to get to the Convention Center is by metro. The closest metro station is Mt. Vernon Place/Convention Center.

Adults (13 & over) - Weekday $10, Weekend $12
Seniors - Weekday $8, Weekend $10
Children (6-12) $5
children under 6 are free.

Vehicle Manufacturers on Display

Acura, Audi, BMW, Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Dodge, Fisker, Ford, GMC, Honda, Hummer, Hyundai, Infinit, Lexus, Lincoln, Mazda, Mercury, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Pontiac, SAAB, Saturn, Subaru, Toyota and Volkswagen.

Green Car Pavilion

An array of fuel-efficient and environmentally positive vehicles will be displayed at a special Green Car Pavilion, hosted by the auto enthusiast magazine Green Car Journal. Vehicles on display achieve their high levels of efficiency with the use of advanced technologies ranging from gasoline-electric hybrid engines, plug-in hybrid powertrains, and hydrogen fuel cells to more conventional clean diesel and advanced gasoline engines. Among the more high-profile vehicles on hand will be the Chevrolet Equinox Fuel Cell, GM’s hydrogen crossover demonstration vehicle that captured last year’s Green Car Vision Award™, and the clean diesel VW Jetta TDI, recently honored as Green Car Journal’s 2009 Green Car of the Year®. Other exciting vehicles at the Pavilion will be ones running on battery electric power, E85 ethanol, compressed natural gas, and other alternative fuels.

2009 Auto Show Entertainment for Kids

The Vehix™ Playland is a special section of the Convention Center that will be filled with games, a movie theatre, activities and lovable characters. There’s even a nine-foot-tall robot! Rock-it the Robot, a giant robot who walks, talks and rocks. Rock-it will be joined by Marvel Comics heroes Spider-Man and Iron Man, as well as Dora the Explorer and Diego, and many furry and feathered friends. Children will also be able to take part in a variety of environmental awareness activities, including an environmental show, that are educational as well as entertaining.
