Each May, the Meridian International Center hosts an International Children's Festival in Washington, DC promoting cultural exchange and introducing families to world geography, dress, and traditions. The festival is a part of Passport DC, an annual event featuring open houses at DC's embassies. More than 25 embassies host educational booths that highlight their countries’ rich cultural heritage through hands-on activities, demonstrations, tastings, and a wide range of musical and dance performances, as well as an international children’s parade. Note: this year, the event is free and has been moved to a new location!
