Gaithersburg’s Water Park at Bohrer Park is owned and operated by the City of Gaithersburg and offers summer fun for the entire family. The main swimming pool is great for recreational swimming and features a large mushroom water umbrella and plenty of space for shallow water play. The pool has a zero-depth entry, making it accessible to all. A double water slide that is 38-foot tall is the main attraction. The enclosed slide is 185 feet long and offers an exhilarating ride to the bottom, while the open flume slide is designed for a more leisurely journey of 336 feet. Swimmers must be 48 inches and taller to ride the slides.
In the large grassy area surrounding the pool there are several covered picnic tables available. There are locker rooms, a snack bar and shaded areas.
The Water Park recently underwent major renovations and improvements just in time for the 2012 season. New features include the addition of two water slides, a variety of brand new play features, the creation of a sixth lap lane, the replacement of the main pool gutter system, and new pool plaster. A complete redesign of the tot pool includes a custom in-water play structure with open and closed flume slides that pays homage to the state of Maryland with Black-Eyed Susan and Blue Heron play features.
