Arena Stage Renovation: Washington, DC's largest not-for-profit theater breaks ground in January of 2008 on a $125 million renovation. The Arena Stage expansion project will preserve the two existing theaters – The Fichancher Stage and the Kreeger Theater – while redesigning the surrounding building and adding an additional 200-seat space (named The Cradle), a theater which will show new and developing plays in a format with flexible seating and state-of-the-art technical capabilities. The new Arena Stage is expected to open for the 2010/2011 season.
Temporary Home to Arena Stage: Arena Stage has established a temporary location in Crystal City, Virginia at the Crystal Forum at S. Bell and 20th Streets. The theater is roughly the same size as the Kreeger, seating 460 patrons. In addition, starting in 2008/2009 Arena Stage plans to have a substantial presence at the Lincoln Theatre in Northwest, Washington, DC.
