In  December 2013, MGM National Harbor, a subsidiary of MGM Resorts International, was awarded  the license to operate the sixth casino in the State of Maryland. A billion dollar Las Vegas style casino will be built in National Harbor, the waterfront development located on the Potomac River near Washington DC. The opening of the resort casino in Prince George’s County will create thousands of construction and more than 4,000 permanent jobs and generate millions in additional revenue for the county and the state. MGM National Harbor has named nationally regarded architectural, engineering and construction management firm McKissack & McKissack as Project Manager for the development of the casino. The property is projected to open in mid-2016.
