MARC Train Service – Commuter Rail Line to Washington DC

MARC Train Service (Maryland Area Regional Commuter) is a 187-mile commuter rail system, that provides service on three lines, between Baltimore, MD; and Washington, DC; Perryville, MD and Washington, DC; and Martinsburg, WV and Washington, DC. MARC Trains operate Monday through Friday only with limited service on select holidays. (Update: new weekend service will soon be available on the Penn Line only). Train service is offered during morning and evening rush hours on the Brunswick and Camden Line, with all day and late evening service on the Penn Line. Seating is not reserved. MARC Train Service is operated under a contract with the National Railroad Passenger Corporation (Amtrak) and CSX Transportation.

Penn Line

The Penn Line of the MARC Train Service operates between Baltimore’s Penn Station, through the BWI Airport Train Station, and Union Station in Washington, DC. Stops include Baltimore City, Odenton, and Bowie State University. In addition, there are 4 stops north of Penn Station at Martins Airport, Edgewood, Aberdeen, and Perryville. The Penn Line is the only line of the MARC Train Service to offer mid-day trips between Baltimore and Washington. Beginning on December 7, 2013, weekend service will be available on the Penn Line, offering much needed transportation between Baltimore and Washington.

Brunswick Line

The Brunswick Line of the MARC Train Service operates between Brunswick, Maryland and Union Station in Washington DC. This line also includes an extension to Frederick, Maryland and Martinsburg, West Virginia. Stops along the Brunswick Line include Gaithersburg, Rockville, and Silver Spring.

Camden Line

Trains on the Camden Line of the MARC Train Service operate out of Camden Yards in Downtown Baltimore and travel to Union Station in Washington DC. The Camden Line stops include Dorsey, Laurel, and College Park.

  • Children - Under the age of 6 ride free with any passenger paying the full fare (limit of two children per full fare passenger).
