Virginia Lottery

The Virginia Lottery offers a variety of exciting games of chance, including Pick 3, Pick 4, Win for Life, Cash 5, Mega Millions and numerous instant scratch tickets. Since 1999, all Virginia Lottery proceeds have been used to benefit public schools in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

To play the Virginia Lottery, you must be 18 years of age or older. Drawings are broadcast on WTVR (Channel 6) in Central Virginia, WAVY (Channel 10) in Hampton Roads, WDBJ (Channel 7) in Southwest Virginia and WCYB (Channel 5) in the tri-state area.

Here is a summary of the games:

Instant Games

Virginia Lottery sells a variety of instant scratch games where you can win up to $1,000,000 any time of day. Fast Play Bingo is a quick game that you can win up to $10,000 on the spot.

Mega Millions

Jackpots start at $12 million and grow until someone wins. There are 9 ways to win the multi-state lottery. The game costs $1 per ticket. Players choose five numbers from 1 - 56 and one MegaBall number from 1 - 46. Players have the option of choosing their numbers or having the lottery system randomly select them. Drawings are held each Tuesday and Friday.

Win For Life

Top Prize: $1,000 per week for life. In this game players pick 6 numbers from 1 through 42. Tickets cost $1. Virginia Lottery draws six numbers and a "Free Ball. To win the grand prize, you must match all 6 numbers. Fixed prizes are awarded for other matches. Drawings are held every Wednesday and Saturday at 11:00 p.m.

Cash 5

Top Prize: $100,000. Players select 5 numbers. Every evening, the Virginia Lottery selects five winning numbers ranging from 1 to 34. To win you must match all of the numbers selected. You can play up to five sets of numbers. Cash 5 drawings are held twice daily, seven days a week.

Pick 3, Pick 4

Top Prize: Pick 3 - $500, Pick 4 - $5000. Pick 3 and Pick 4 are daily drawings, held twice a day. Bets are $.50 or $1. This lottery game offers a straight or boxed option. Tickets can be purchased in advance.
