Virginia Governor Election 2013

The Virginia Governor Election will take place on November 5, 2013. Three candidates will appear on the ballot for Governor: Republican Ken Cuccinelli, the Attorney General of Virginia; Democrat Terry McAuliffe, the former Chairman of the Democratic National Committee; and Libertarian Robert Sarvis, a lawyer and businessman. Cuccinelli and McAuliffe have agreed to participate in three debates. The final debate will be held on October 24, 2013, at Haymarket Theatre at Squires Student Center on the Virginia Tech campus in Blacksburg. WDBJ will broadcast the debate live.

  • Ken Cuccinelli – Republican

Born: July 30, 1968, Edison, NJ

Education: University of Virginia, George Mason University School of Law, George Mason University

Current Resident: Prince William County

Experience:  Attorney General of Virginia since 2010, former member of the Senate of Virginia

Endorsements: Jeb Bush, former Governor of Florida; Bobby Jindal, Governor of Louisiana; Bob McDonnell, Governor of Virginia; Rand Paul, U.S. Senator of Kentucky; Ron Paul, former congressman from Texas and 2008 & 2012 presidential candidate; Mitt Romney, former Governor of Massachusetts and 2012 presidential candidate and  Marco Rubio, U.S. Senator of Florida.

Current Resident: Fairfax County

Experience: businessman and former chairman of the Democratic Party

Brown, Lieutenant Governor of Maryland; Tim Kaine, U.S. Senator and former Governor of Virginia; Linwood Holton, former Republican Governor of Virginia; Martin O'Malley, Governor of Maryland; Will Sessoms, Mayor of Virginia Beach and Mark Warner, U.S. Senator and former Governor of Virginia.

Current Resident: Fairfax County

Experience: lawyer, math teacher and businessman

Endorsement: Gary Johnson, former Republican Governor of New Mexico.
