The H Street Corridor in NE Washington, DC is a neighborhood in transition. The revival of this neighborhood was kicked-off with the opening of the Atlas Performing Arts Center, an art-deco 1930s movie theater that was converted into an arts complex with multiple theaters and dance spaces. The vibrant community along H Street is developing into an arts and entertainment district and it's a neighborhood to keep an eye on! The Argonaut Tavern

The nautical-themed tavern offers casual dining and a variety of music on the Jukebox. The upper level bar is a cozy spot to hang out, play some pool and enjoy DJ music.

Atlas Performing Arts Center

1333 H Street, NE Washington, DC (202) 399-7993.
The renovated 1938 art deco movie house has four theaters, three dance studios, production and rehearsal spaces. The Atlas is home to a diverse group of local arts organizations that offer dance, drama, and theater arts education programs to the public.

Ethiopic

The authentic Ethiopian restaurant features meat, poultry, fish and vegetarian dishes. Located on the quiet end of H Street near Union Station.

Granville Moore's Gastropub

The Gastropub specialties are mussels and Belgian Beer. The menu also includes sandwiches, steaks, seafood, salads, soups and appetizers.

H Street Country Club

The restaurant features fresh, authentic Mexican cuisine against the backdrop of décor that pokes fun at the country club theme. H Street Playhouse

The 100- seat black-box theater is home to the Theater Alliance, a rehearsal space and Gallery H. Residents who live within five blocks of the playhouse get free tickets to Theater Alliance performances.

Rock and Roll Hotel

This large nightclub in the H Street corridor features live music, several bars and "hotel" themed rooms. A variety of music is performed on Wednesday through Saturday nights. Tickets are available in advance.

Red Palace

1210 H Street, NE Washington, DC (202) 398-7469.
This bar takes the prize as the weirdest in Washington, DC. The Red Palace is decorated with an odd collection of carnival memorabilia including a taxidermied body of the Last Living Unicorn, nine-foot-tall Peruvian mummies, an eight-legged goat named Spider Billy, furry fish and a one-gallon jar holding the preserved head of a huge python. Live performances are just as odd. See live burlesque and vaudeville shows, stunt shows and magic shows, aerialists and contortionists and all-female arm wrestling competitions.
