Maryland Renaissance Festival
Date of visit:Multiple for the last 20 years
While admission is steep and both the commute and the crowds are frustrating at times, the MD Renassaince Festival always has something for everyone. My husband & have been making the trip since before we were married. Shakespeare's Skum, a long running performance troupe that does Shakespeare parodies, alone are worth the price of admission (get to the venue early enough to get a seat where you can hear well - the jokes are what make it worth it). The food is fun, the crafts are fun, the traveling players (although often lost in the crowd these days because of the sheer press of people) are fun. Wear good walking shoes, be prepared to be hot and crowded, and let the festival work its magic on you. It is worth it!
